What it covers

The sequence for fixing joists, studwork, stairs and door linings, or the second-fix items the job needs. It records how floor openings and edges stay protected, where materials are stored and cut, and how offcuts are cleared.

Hazards and controls

Falls from open floor edges and through stairwell voids, controlled by edge protection and fixed covers kept in place. Nail gun injuries, controlled by sequential trigger tools and trained users. Contact with saw blades, controlled by guards and a set cutting area. Then wood dust from sawing, collapse of unbraced joists or studwork, and noise and vibration. Controls follow the hierarchy, so edge protection and guarding come before PPE.

Competence and training

Carpentry needs a competent carpenter, trained on the nail guns and saws used. The method statement names the competence required and the standards it works to, so a principal contractor can check it at a glance.

FAQ

Does it cover nail guns?
Yes. Nail gun use is part of the numbered method, and nail gun injuries are in the risk assessment with the matching controls.
Can I add my own steps?
Yes. Download it as Word and edit anything to match the plot, the timber and the tools you are using.
Will it be accepted on site?
It follows the HSE five steps and the CDM 2015 framing site managers expect. A competent person still has to review and sign it off before use.
What does it cost?
